Porter and Stout –
We sought Carmen’s help for our 2 rescue dogs, Porter and Stout. Porter, a German shepherd/corgi mix, had grown leash aggressive towards other dogs and we were seeing no signs of improvement after a couple local group dog training classes. Carmen’s home visits were extremely helpful. We were able to tailor the lessons to our dogs individual behaviors as well as address their specific problems related to their protective behavior at home. All of her suggestions were straight forward and easy to implement. The once a week schedule of the visits allowed us to practice her suggestions from the week before and gain valuable feedback on what was working or not working. The weekly schedule also kept us accountable to practice each new lesson before the next scheduled session.
We have seen a huge amount of improvement in both dogs. We aren’t there yet, but we have a clear path to follow and the assurance that we are doing the right thing. There are so many different opinions on dog training, but Carmen’s suggestions are so intuitive and straight forward, while avoiding punishment and aggressive corrections.
Overall, Carmen was great to work with. She is very patient, understanding and would listen intently to our various concerns. Through Carmen’s teaching, we have developed a greater understanding of our dogs behaviors and the intentions behind their actions, which has allowed us to react in an appropriate way to help foster change. We are so thankful we found her and would highly recommend her services!
